Places to explore in DevonEngland · South West England

Two coasts and two moors give Devon its range. Dartmoor fills the county's heart, a granite dome of tors and blanket bog where Hound Tor and Haytor rise above the heather. Along the north coast, cliffs fall to the sea at the Valley of Rocks and the paired villages of Lynton and Lynmouth, with the cobbled street of Clovelly further west. The south is gentler, its drowned estuaries reaching inland at Salcombe. The South West Coast Path links the whole shore, and Drake's old home at Buckland Abbey lies inland.
