Cullompton’s parish church was enlarged on the town’s medieval wool wealth. Its showpiece is Lane’s Aisle, added in 1526–29 by the cloth merchant John Lane and roofed with elaborate fan vaulting, his trade marks of shears and ships carved through the stone. The painted rood screen is among the longest in Devon. Open most days in daylight hours; Tiverton Parkway is the nearest station, about 7km north.
