Britain in relief

The lie of the land, with every hill stretched far taller than life. Drag to spin it; zoom in and a drag moves you across it. Right-drag, or two fingers on a phone, turns and tilts. Move the sea to see what it hides.

About this model

Heights come from Terrain Tiles on AWS(NASA's SRTM and other public elevation data), averaged into half-kilometre squares, so summits sit a little low: Ben Nevis reaches about 1,260 m here against its true 1,345 m. Ocean depths past the edge of the continental shelf are squashed so the Atlantic doesn't swallow the view.

The sea is a bathtub: water fills every hollow below the line, with no sea walls, tides or land rising and sinking. Ireland, the Isle of Man and France are drawn faintly, because the Albion Guide covers Great Britain.
