What is a Country Park?

Country Parks are areas of accessible countryside on the edge of towns and cities, set up for a day out — walking, picnics, a run-around for the kids — rather than for strict nature protection. They were introduced by the Countryside Act 1968 and are usually run by local councils.

Every one listed here is in England because the data comes from Natural England's national register; country parks also exist in Wales and Scotland, kept on separate registers, so their absence here is about where the record is kept, not where the parks are.
