Wirral Country Park was one of the first designated country parks in Britain, running along the line of a disused railway on the Dee shore at Thurstaston. The old trackbed is now the Wirral Way, a long, level path for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders, and there’s a visitor centre and a spot to drop down onto the shore and its low sandstone cliffs. Good, easy family walking with views across to Wales.
