The Lady Lever Art Gallery stands at the heart of the model village of Port Sunlight, built by the soap magnate Lord Leverhulme and opened in 1922 in memory of his wife. It holds his personal collection: Pre-Raphaelite paintings by the likes of Millais and Rossetti, fine furniture, and what’s often called the best collection of Wedgwood jasperware anywhere. It’s free to visit and well worth an hour or two. Bebington station is just a few minutes’ walk away.
