Laid out in 1864 by landscape gardener Edward Kemp as Birkenhead’s first public cemetery, Flaybrick sits high on the ridge above the Mersey with wide views and a fine collection of Victorian monuments and mature trees. Owned by Wirral Council, it’s open to walk through daily, dawn to dusk, free of charge. The volunteer Friends of Flaybrick run occasional guided walks through the year if you want the history explained properly. Birkenhead North station is under a kilometre away.
