North Wirral Foreshore is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Merseyside, covering 20 km². It is one of 14 SSSIs in the county. Only two of the county's SSSIs are larger.

Sefton Coast and Thurstaston Common are among the SSSIs within 4.5 km. New Brighton Station is under a kilometre away.
