Thurstaston is a small village sitting behind one of the best stretches of the Wirral coast. Above it are a sandstone common and Thurstaston Hill, with wide views over the Dee to the Welsh hills; below, the Wirral Country Park visitor centre and a beach reached from the old railway line, now the walkable Wirral Way. West Kirby is a few kilometres up the coast.
