Cathkin Braes rise on Glasgow’s south-eastern edge, above Castlemilk and Rutherglen, topping out at 200m at Queen Mary’s Seat, the highest point in the city. There are wide views north over Glasgow from the ridge, and the mountain-bike trails here hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games, with blue, red and orange routes plus a skills park and pump track. Free and open all year.
