Calderglen Country Park makes a good family day out on the edge of East Kilbride, with ornamental gardens, a tropical glasshouse and a small children’s zoo, plus footpaths that drop into a wooded gorge past a run of waterfalls. Entry to the park and gardens is free. East Kilbride station is a couple of kilometres away.
