Hilltop woodland in the north of the county, Hartshill Hayes covers about 137 acres above the village of Hartshill, with open grass at the top giving long views across the Anker valley. Warwickshire County Council runs it, and there’s a visitor centre, café and waymarked trails. Distinct from the ruined castle nearby of the same village. Atherstone station is roughly 4km off.
