Almondell and Calderwood Country Park runs along the wooded valley of the River Almond near East Calder, an easy, leafy place for riverside walks under old estate bridges. There’s a visitor centre housed in a former stable block. It’s free to visit, with a car park, and makes a calm green escape close to Livingston. The nearest station is Livingston South, a couple of km to the south-west.
