Roslin Glen follows the wooded gorge of the River North Esk below Rosslyn Chapel, a steep, green tangle of a place with paths threading through the trees. Down in the glen are the ruins of Roslin Castle and the remains of old gunpowder mills that once worked here. It’s free, with a car park and woodland trails — good for a couple of hours’ wander from Roslin village.
