Arniston House is a William Adam mansion of 1726, built for the Dundas family in the Midlothian countryside near Gorebridge; John Adam added the western third a generation later, and it’s still a Dundas home today. In the summer months the family open the house for guided tours, with parkland and gardens around it. There’s an admission charge and seasonal hours, so check what’s open before you go. Gorebridge station is under 3km away.
