Temple was the medieval Scottish headquarters of the Knights Templar, and the order gave the village its name. A ruined kirk stands above the South Esk, and the place stays quiet and low-key as a small conservation village. It’s freely accessible to wander around. Gorebridge station is about 4km to the north-east.
