Cider has been pressed at Winkleigh since 1916, and Sam’s still matures it in oak vats more than a century old, from apples grown within about twenty-five miles. There’s a farm shop and the Tallet cafe among the orchards, and a weekly tour that walks you through the old and new ways of making it. Eggesford is the nearest station, some 7km north-east.
