A small round Iron Age hillfort on the high ground above the Lowman, earthworks only

Another Devon earthwork saddled with a castle name that does not fit: Huntsham is an Iron Age hillfort, roughly circular and ringed by a single bank and ditch, set on high ground above two streams that feed the Lowman. It is one of a scattered group in this corner of the county — Cranmore Castle above Tiverton is the biggest of them, and on a clear day the forts are intervisible, a fair hint that they stood at the same time.
There is nothing built to see, and the site sits in farmland, so check the rights of way before setting off. The Grand Western Canal towpath four kilometres west makes a flatter walk.
