Widecombe-in-the-Moor gathers under a Dartmoor ring of tors, and its church tower rises about 120 feet over the green — hence the nickname Cathedral of the Moor. Local tin miners are said to have paid for the tower around 1500; inside, look up for the Tinners’ Rabbits, three hares sharing three ears carved on a roof boss. Usually open in daylight hours.
