Becky Falls
Local highlightA run of cascades on the Becka Brook, spilling over mossy granite boulders through old oak woodland on the edge of Dartmoor
Rather than one big drop, Becky Falls is a run of small cascades where the Becka Brook tumbles down a jumble of moss-covered granite boulders, deep in oak woodland in the Bovey Valley on the eastern edge of Dartmoor. The falls sit inside a privately run woodland park, so there’s an admission charge, and paths and walkways lead you down through the trees to the water. It’s an easy family outing rather than a wild scramble, though the rocks stay wet and slippery, so mind your footing near the edge. The falls are liveliest after rain, when the brook is in spate. While you’re in the area, the granite piles of Hound Tor and Bowerman’s Nose are a couple of miles off, and the village of Lustleigh is close by.
