Bovey Tracey calls itself the gateway to Dartmoor, sitting where the moor drops to the Bovey valley. Its main draw is the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, whose shop and gallery fill a riverside mill with contemporary making. From here it’s a short run up onto the high moor and the granite outcrop of Haytor. Newton Abbot, with the nearest station, is about 10km south-east.
