Reputedly first licensed in 1320, the Cott Inn at Dartington is among the oldest inns in Britain — a long, low, thatched cob-and-stone building that grew from cottages on the packhorse road to Totnes. Beams, open fires and award-winning food inside, with rooms upstairs. Totnes station is about 2km to the south-east.
