Come with an eye on the tides: the Pilchard Inn sits on Burgh Island, reached on foot across the sands from Bigbury-on-Sea at low water, or by the island’s sea tractor when the tide is in. Dating from 1336, it once served fishermen and smugglers, and now pours drinks with a view back to the mainland.
