Agatha Christie kept Greenway as a holiday home and called it “the loveliest place in the world” — a Georgian house in woodland gardens that tumble down to the River Dart near Galmpton. The garden runs green and half-wild above a boathouse on the water, and the house is kept as the family left it in the 1950s. National Trust; paid entry, with parking pre-booked. Best reached by boat up the Dart, or by steam train to Kingswear and a ferry across.
