Dittisham drops steeply to the tidal Dart above Dartmouth, its cottages and gardens gathered round a slipway where boats swing at their moorings. A passenger ferry crosses to the Greenway side of the river, and the village has long been known for its plum orchards. The nearest station is at Paignton, roughly 8km north-east.
