Deep wooded Exmoor coombe to the sea.
Heddon’s Mouth is where the River Heddon reaches the sea through a deep combe of scree and heather on the Exmoor coast. A restored lime kiln stands on the boulder beach at the bottom, and the walk down from the National Trust’s Hunter’s Inn is about a mile and a half each way, mostly level along the river. Bring boots for the shingle at the end.
