Bicton Park Botanical Gardens
Bicton’s curved Palm House went up in the 1820s, some twenty years before Kew’s and counted among the first big glasshouses anywhere — a shell of iron ribs and thousands of small panes. Around it spread an Italian formal garden, a pinetum and further glasshouses, with roughly three centuries of planting in this corner of East Devon. Paid entry, open through the year. Lympstone Village station is about 8.5km west.
