Cockington is a thatched hamlet on the edge of Torquay, with a watermill, a forge and a manor house set in parkland. Its inn, the Drum Inn, was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in the 1930s as the centrepiece of a model village that was never finished. Torquay station is barely a mile away.
