A single row of cottages stands behind a mile of shingle at Beesands, facing straight out to Start Bay with nothing between it and the open sea. It’s an unspoilt fishing settlement with a seafront pub and boats still working for crab and lobster. Slapton and its shingle-backed ley are a short way north along the same bay.
