Tapeley Park sits high above the Torridge estuary near Instow, with Italian terraced gardens looking out over the water to the North Devon coast. It’s been the Christie family’s home for two centuries, and the current custodian has let part of the grounds run as a permaculture forest garden alongside the more formal beds. The gardens open Sunday to Thursday from late March to late October, with a small admission charge and an organic tea room on site.
