Time a visit to Lukesland for spring or autumn colour: twenty-four acres in a Dartmoor valley where the Addicombe Brook drops through waterfalls and pools, planted with rhododendrons, azaleas, acers and some huge old magnolias. A Victorian gothic house sits at its centre. Paid seasonal entry, usually Wednesdays and Sundays. Ivybridge station is close, about 1.5km, so this is an easy one without a car.
