Car-free cobbled village tumbling to the harbour.
Clovelly is a privately owned village whose cobbled main street is too steep and stepped for cars, dropping between whitewashed cottages to a stone harbour. Goods still go up and down by sledge. You pay to enter through a visitor centre at the top, as visitors have since 1924, which helps keep the place maintained. It sits on the wild north-west coast near Hartland.
