Places to explore in DerbyshireEngland · East Midlands

Derbyshire is where lowland England meets the Pennines. The southern White Peak is limestone country, cut by dales such as Dovedale, while the Dark Peak to the north rises to gritstone moors and the long escarpment of Stanage Edge. Most of the uplands lie within the Peak District, Britain's first national park. The Derwent valley carried the early cotton mills that changed the world, and great houses stand in the folds of the hills, from Chatsworth House to Hardwick Hall and Haddon Hall.
