All Saints' Church, Youlgreave
A big Perpendicular tower marks out All Saints in the long limestone village of Youlgreave. The church is older than the 15th-century tower suggests — Norman work survives in the nave — and its font is a curiosity: a plain Norman bowl brought from nearby Elton, with a small extra stoup held up by a carved salamander, said to be the only one of its kind in England. Open all day, and worth the short detour off the Lathkill Dale walks.
