An early Bronze Age stone circle sits in a birch clearing on Stanton Moor, its nine low stones ringing a small open space, with an outlying stone known as the King Stone a little way off. The name comes from a legend that the stones are women turned to rock as a punishment for dancing on a Sunday. It’s a short walk across open-access moor from Birchover.
