Youlgreave straggles for the best part of a mile along a ridge above Bradford Dale, a place of gritstone and limestone cottages. Its landmark is the tall Perpendicular tower of All Saints, and the village keeps up an elaborate well dressing each June. It even ran its own water supply for years, still marked by a round stone tank called The Fountain in the main street.
