Birchover is a gritstone village on the flank of Stanton Moor, heather moorland scattered with Bronze Age cairns and the Nine Ladies stone circle. Behind the village, Rowtor Rocks hide rooms, steps and seats carved into the outcrop by an 18th-century parson for his own amusement. The Druid Inn sits at the top of the village street.
