Rowsley sits where the Wye runs into the Derwent, between Bakewell and Matlock. Beside the river is Caudwell’s Mill, a water-powered roller flour mill built in 1874 and still working, with a craft yard and cafe in its old stableyard. The village is also the southern end of the Peak Rail heritage line and home to the Peacock, a former coaching inn on the road north.
