Edensor is the estate village of Chatsworth, rebuilt in the 1830s by the 6th Duke of Devonshire after the old village spoiled his view from the house. Each cottage was given a different style, from Swiss to Italianate to Tudor, the story going that the Duke could not choose and had one of each. Joseph Paxton, his head gardener, helped lay it out. The name is said “Enson”.
