Baslow stands at the northern edge of Chatsworth Park, where the Derwent leaves the estate. Above it runs the long gritstone rim of Baslow and Curbar Edge, popular with walkers and climbers for the views south over the valley. The old bridge over the river still has a tiny watchman’s hut at one end, too low to stand up in.
