Come to the Pack Horse for the cooking: chef-owner Luke Payne’s kitchen has put this Hayfield village pub in the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs and the Michelin Guide, while keeping muddy boots welcome. It sits right at the foot of Kinder Scout, so it makes a good end to a day on the moor. Booking is wise at weekends.
