When the last pub in Bamford was threatened with closure, more than 300 villagers clubbed together to buy it in 2013 — the first community-owned pub in Derbyshire. The Anglers Rest still doubles as the village café and post office alongside the bar, near the River Derwent below Bamford Edge. Bamford station is a short walk to the south.
