Cat and Fiddle Mill at Dale Abbey is a post mill — the whole timber body turns on a central post to face the wind — dating to 1788 and one of only a handful of Midlands-type mills left in the country. A brick-and-sandstone roundhouse was added in 1844; the sails last turned for work in 1952, and it is preserved now rather than milling. Grade I listed, and opened to visitors by arrangement. Ilkeston station is about 5km to the north-east.
