The only working six-sailed stone tower windmill in England stands on a rise above Heage. It was built in 1797, and after years derelict was restored to working order in 2002; it now grinds wheat into stoneground flour, sold at the mill. Costumed guided tours run at weekends from Easter to late October, with wide views over the Derwent Valley. Ambergate station is about 2km off.
