The Old Nag’s Head marks the official start of the Pennine Way, the 268-mile walk that runs north to the Scottish border. Dating from 1577, it’s a low-beamed inn with log fires, and walkers set off up Kinder Scout more or less from the door. Edale station is a few minutes’ walk south, which makes it an easy place to begin or end a Peak day.
