Edale is the southern start of the Pennine Way, England’s oldest long-distance path, which sets off toward Kinder Scout and runs 268 miles to the Scottish border. The Old Nag’s Head, the traditional starting point, still marks the trailhead. The valley of scattered farmsteads sits below the dark plateau of Kinder. Edale station is in the village on the Hope Valley line.
