Cascades Gardens fills an old limestone quarry at Bonsall — four acres of cliffs, pools and the ruins of a corn mill, with the mill’s water channels worked into the planting. Alan Clements laid it out from the 1990s, drawing on Japanese gardens and Buddhist ideas, so it reads as a quiet, water-led place rather than a showy one. There’s a bonsai collection too. Paid entry; Matlock Bath station is under 2km away.
