Places to explore in DorsetEngland · South West England

Dorset's coast is a geology lesson written in cliffs — the Jurassic Coast, where the sea has carved the limestone arch of Durdle Door and the near-perfect circle of Lulworth Cove, and the chalk stacks of Old Harry Rocks mark the county's eastern end. Inland lie chalk downs and dark heath, crowned by Maiden Castle, the largest Iron Age hillfort in Britain. The ruined keep at Corfe Castle guards a gap in the Purbeck ridge, and fossil-hunters still work the shore below Lyme Regis.
