The Acorn Inn
Local highlightA 16th-century coaching inn of honey-coloured stone, the Acorn keeps its old beams, panelling and open fires, and appears as the Sow & Acorn in Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles. The kitchen makes the most of Dorset produce across bar and restaurant. It makes a comfortable base for walking the Macmillan Way, which passes through the village, or exploring the deer park at nearby Melbury.
