A 14th-century church beside the River Cerne, St Mary’s keeps a fine west tower and some medieval stained glass. It sits at the heart of Cerne Abbas, a short step from the fragments of the abbey and within sight of the hillside giant cut into the chalk above the village. Usually open during the day; Maiden Newton station is about 7km south-west.
